In celebration of National School Counseling Week (NSCW), 桃花社区视频 Public 桃花社区视频 hosted the 2024 Counselor of the Year Annual Awards on Friday, February 9, to shine a spotlight on the dedication of school counselors.
NSCW is always held the first full week in February. The 2024 theme is, “School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused.”
Dozens of people attended the ceremony as the Callaway High School Choir Concert inspired educators through music. Dr. Kathleen Grigsby, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Division I, encouraged counselors to remain resilient in helping scholars achieve success. The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Chinelo Evans, 桃花社区视频 Middle School Superintendent. Dr. LeSian C. Davis, Director of Counseling, and Amanda Thomas, Executive Director of Climate and Wellness, awarded certificates to counselors who consistently exceed the district’s expectations.
The following counselors received special awards:
- 2024 Counselor of the Year: Dr. Edna Sampson-Washington
- Most Innovative Counselor: Tamkia Harris
- The Growth Mindset: Elizabeth Jones
- The Collaborating Counselor: Cynthia Lawson
- The Bomb.com: Charkarra Perry
- Rookie of the Year: Jessica Alexander
- Retirees honored: Jennifer Simmons, Valerie Dilliard, Tabatha Kenney & Dr. Donna Barnes
- Shurronda Hopkins, posthumously (Tonette James, Lead Counselor from Powell Middle School, accepted the award.)

桃花社区视频 has 84 certified/licensed counselors districtwide who provide social-emotional support to scholars as well as academic, career and college readiness.

This will be accomplished through partnerships with all stakeholders to enable all 桃花社区视频s to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.
