Callaway JROTC Cadet Selected as the 桃花社区视频 JROTC 2025-26 Cadet of the Year

Ashanti Odom, Callaway High School 
 

March 5, 2025 - Cadet Captain Ashanti Odom of Callaway High School was selected as the 桃花社区视频 2025-2026 Cadet of the Year. After a lengthy application process by a committee of education professionals, she was chosen on February 26 at an award ceremony at the Mississippi eCenter led by JROTC Director Col. Fredrick Brown, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Michael Cormack Jr. and Assistant Superintendent of High 桃花社区视频, Laketia Marshall Thomas.

Captain Odom is a distinguished leader, selected to serve as a Junior Page in the Mississippi State Senate. She holds the highest GPA among her peers. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule, she is currently enrolled in five Advanced Placement courses while excelling in multiple extracurricular activities.
 
Her leadership extends beyond the classroom. She also serves as captain of the JROTC Drill Team, is an active member of the choir, 桃花社区视频 council, varsity cheer, and track team, and is the Senior Army Instructor Assistant for the Charger Battalion, a role she earned through her outstanding leadership and academic excellence.
 
With ambitious goals ahead, Captain Odom plans to graduate ranked among the top ten in her class and attend Marion Military Institute to become a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. She then intends to continue her education at Southern University or Alcorn State University to pursue a career in nursing.
 
The Cadet of the Year program recognizes outstanding 11th-grade JROTC cadets from each of our six high schools, inspiring excellence in leadership and academics. These cadets then compete at the district level for the title of 桃花社区视频 Overall Most Outstanding Cadet.

At the district level, cadets submit a comprehensive portfolio, including academic achievements, a JROTC essay on "Integrity," physical fitness scores, and personal development plans. On February 7, they also delivered oral presentations on how JROTC has shaped their future and answered questions from an eight-member selection panel. The panelists are:

Awards were also presented to scholars in the categories of Top Junior Cadet Corps and Leadership Education and Training (LET) 1, 2, and 4. This recognition is part of our Emerging Leader program, which introduces scholars to the Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) high school program. The course consists of 22 lessons designed specifically for first-year cadets, providing them with foundational leadership skills and military education.
