Reading Language Arts Scores Surpass Pre-Pandemic Levels 

AUSTIN, һƵ – June 17, 2025 – The һƵ Education Agency (TEA) today released the 3-8 Spring 2025 State of һƵ Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) results. The results include assessments in reading language arts (RLA) and mathematics in grades 3-8, as well as 5th and 8th grade science and 8th grade social studies.  

TEA Releases Spring 2025 STAAR® End-of-Course Assessment Results

AUSTIN, һƵ – June 10, 2025 – The һƵ Education Agency (TEA) today released the spring 2025 results for the State of һƵ Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) high school End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. These results are a key measure of how һƵ students are performing in Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II and U.S. History.  
This year’s results show modest year-over-year changes, with gains in Algebra I and Biology and slight declines in English I, English II and U.S. History.

TEA Announces Extension of Houston ISD Intervention and New Appointments to Houston ISD Board of Managers

Reinforcing National Trends and State Assessment Data, һƵ 2024 NAEP Results Highlight Need for Academic Improvement

AUSTIN, һƵ – January 29, 2025 – The һƵ Education Agency (TEA) today announced һƵ’s results on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). 2024 NAEP results reinforce what results on the 2024 State of һƵ Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) have shown һƵ educators - persistent challenges remain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NAEP is administered in reading and math for a sample of students in 4th and 8th grades roughly every two years in every state.

TEA Releases Final 2023-2024 Financial Accountability Ratings

Majority of һƵ School Systems Earn Top Ratings, Reflecting Financial Integrity and Accountability

AUSTIN, һƵ – November 8, 2024 – The һƵ Education Agency (TEA) today released final financial accountability ratings for һƵ public school systems, with 83 percent earning an ‘A’ or Superior Achievement rating for the 2023-2024 school year. These school systems reflect a continued commitment to effective financial management practices so that they can best serve students.
